Traditional Home Transformation in Birmingham, Alabama

This Birmingham home underwent a complete exterior transformation and extensive interior renovation. The goal was to modernize the property while preserving its traditional character and creating a more distinctive, functional design.

On the exterior, we removed the existing front windows and installed new windows with traditional grid patterns. Custom exterior trim was added around the windows to create the appearance of larger openings and improve the home’s curb appeal.

We also built a new covered front porch and completely rebuilt the patio beneath it using premium bluestone. The existing side deck was demolished and replaced with a significantly larger deck, creating a more comfortable and functional outdoor living space.

Custom cedar pergolas were constructed on both sides of the home, along with detailed architectural features on the new front porch. Each structure includes handcrafted corbels and custom millwork designed specifically for the home. New gas lanterns and updated exterior lighting completed the exterior transformation.

At the rear of the property, a new triple window was installed to bring more natural light into the home and better showcase the surrounding views.

Inside, the entire home received fresh paint, and the kitchen was completely redesigned. Interior walls were removed to create a more open and connected living space. The updated kitchen includes new cabinetry, countertops, lighting, finishes, and a large central island that provides additional seating, storage, and workspace.

The completed renovation gives the home a fresh, timeless appearance while improving natural light, interior flow, outdoor living space, and overall functionality.

In the basement, we added about 700s/f of liveable space to the unfinished basement. We added a laundry room to the basement which before was just a dirt crawlspace. We also framed out the basement and added a den, office, bathroom, and storage closet. We plumbed for the laundry and bathroom, added electrical throughout, and installed a separate HVAC system for the basement. We installed tile flooring, sheetrock, trim, and painted throughout the entire basement. We also installed some new windows to the basement to allow for some more natural light since it is now a living space.
