Living space you already own

Many homes in Hoover, Vestavia Hills and Mountain Brook sit on sloped lots with a walk-out or daylight basement. Finished properly, it becomes the most flexible space in the house: a media room, a guest suite with its own bathroom, a playroom, a gym or a quiet office far from the kitchen.

We have finished basements in Bluff Park, Mountain Brook and across Birmingham, including a complete basement build-out as part of the Tynes Project in Mountain Brook. Attics and bonus rooms over garages can be transformed the same way when the structure and headroom allow.

Done right from the slab up

  • Moisture first: we look at grading, gutters, drainage and the walls before anything is framed – a dry basement is the foundation of everything else.
  • Comfort: insulation, HVAC that reaches the new space, and sound control between floors.
  • Safety: egress windows or doors for bedrooms, smoke and CO detection, proper stairs and railings.
  • Light: bigger windows where possible and layered lighting where not.

Finished like the rest of your home

The difference between a basement and a lower level is the finish. We carry the same trim, doors, floors and paint quality downstairs, add built-ins, wet bars and bathrooms, and make the stairs feel like an invitation rather than an afterthought.

Questions

Common questions about basements & attics

Is my basement too damp to finish?

Many damp basements can be fixed with better drainage, grading and vapor control. We find the cause before we finish anything.

Can I add a bathroom in the basement?

Usually yes. If the drains are below the sewer line, we install an ejector system.
